CCSNA Calendar Coordinator, Arizona State Commissioner, Former Illinois State Commissioner, 2005 Clansman of the Year
Preserving the “Auld Alliance” my French surnamed father (Julian M. Pelletier) married my Scottish mother (Christian Lawson Campbell), which led to me. Although mom came to America from Clydebank with her parents and six siblings at only age 5, I have always known that was born a Scot - and a Campbell. I have truly ‘felt’ that, whether standing atop Dunandd, or at Kilchurn at the head of Loch Awe, surrounded by the haunting scenery.
In 2001, when I asked the Society why Campbell was not represented at the Chicago Games, I was ‘appointed’ state commissioner, a role which I was honored to hold until 2006. For 2005, I (along with my German heritage wife, Sue) was awarded Clansman of the Year for covering games in five midwestern states that year. After 60+ years in Illinois, we migrated to Arizona, where I later became state commissioner there.
It has also been my pleasure to maintain the calendar of Scottish Highland Games for CCSNA since 2008. We monitor a current list of well over 200 event websites for North America. Events do “come and go’ over time; a few never returned after Covid, and we are seeing that others have succumb to economic considerations – at least temporarily. Yes, some new events to appear.
My career was in computer systems, programming and management. I started way back when it was ‘Data Processing’ – I’m that old. My time now in retirement is spent as a docent at a local historical society, implementing software for a community service organization, and traveling/cruising.
